AMSTERDAM 28 January 2015 – The best hotels and companies in the travel industry from more than 50 countries worldwide, have been competing for the fervently coveted International Hotel Awards, sponsored by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.
Before they can compete against other nominated hotels from the Asia-Pacific region, the Americas, Arabia, Africa and the United Kingdom, the winners of the International Hotel Awards first had to prove that they are the best in their country. This year, Peru and the Bahamas took part in this event for the first time and faced strong competition.
One of this year’s winners is the Ramada Apollo Amsterdam Centre, with a five-star award in the most prestigious of the 17 categories: the Best Hotel in the Netherlands.
Following extensive deliberations by the jury of the International Hotel Awards, under the chairmanship of Sir David Michels, the winners at national level along with the overall winners of the title the ‘World’s Best Hotel’ were announced on Monday the 26th of January 2015 during a gala presentation dinner at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square.
Edwin Broers, Vice President of Operations at the Wyndham Hotel Group, under the Ramada brand, said: "We are delighted that Ramada Apollo Amsterdam Centre was recognised as the Best Hotel in the Netherlands. This is the result of the commitment and continuous hard work of the team to always offer the best product and the best service. It is therefore fantastic to see them being rewarded for their efforts. This honour is the perfect encouragement for us to continue putting 100% of our energy towards working for our guests.”
“It is a tremendous honour for Ramada Apollo Hotel Amsterdam Centre to receive this prestigious Award”, said Alexander Kluit, general manager of the hotel. “The Ramada Apollo Hotel Amsterdam Centre is part of Apollo Hotels & Resorts, a privately-owned hotel group with thirteen hotels in the Netherlands. Bas Tolmeijer, Managing Director and owner of Apollo Hotels & Resorts, is exceptionally proud of the performance of the Ramada Apollo Amsterdam and congratulates the team on this special award."
Stuart Shield, President of the International Hotel Awards, said: “This is the fourth year that we have awarded the International Hotel Awards. Our objective is to appraise outstanding luxury hotels and commend excellent levels of service and style. The competition also includes specialised categories, putting the best spa, the best conference centre and the best golf hotels in the spotlight. Smaller luxury hotels aren’t forgotten, after all they specialise in creating a more intimate environment for guests who are looking for rest and relaxation.
“There are many five-star hotels that offer round-the-clock exemplary service and it is an honour for us to be able to raise the profiles of hotels that view their services as a form of art. They deserve true recognition for the supreme efforts they make for their hotel, as well as for the general performance and innovation.”
